SYDNEY, September 28. Arrived, yesterday evening Union Company’s steamship Rotorua, from Auckland. The Hon. John Lacky, who recently resigned his portfolio as Minister of Public Works, has withdrawn his resignation. Two children were burnt to death this morning at a house in Mary street. Sir Henry Parkes, Premier, is much improved in health. He resumed his attendance at the House of Assembly today, and was greeted with cordial cheers from all aides of the House upon entering the Chamber. The Government are now pushing forward the various measures promised in the Governor’s speech, and are endeavouring to accelerate the passage of the Land and Local Government Bills in particular.
