At the conclusion of the bnsineis in Chambers, Mr Joyntsaid he had been requested by the members of the bar to express to his Honor their gratification at his safe return to Canterbury. They trusted that his Honor was completely restored to health, and would long be spared to administer justice in the Court, Ho would also say that, apart from personal grounds, they were very glad indeed to have his Honor back, as the inconvenience which had been felt from the absence of one of the Judges had been very great. His Honor wa* sure that he ought to feel, and did feel, sincerely thankful to the Bar for their kind expression of good feeling. They were all aware that he was most desirous, if he was not always successful, to maintain good feeling, sympathy, and con sideration between the Bench and the Bar, The fact of his having bean in ill-health for some considerable time past had, he_ feared, to some extent interfered with the discharge of his duties, and migrt, perhaps, have affected him personally in a way that the profession might possibly have themselves felt to some extent. He was happy to say that so far as he could judge, his health was very nearly restored, and ho trusted he would long be spared to administer justice in a portion of the colony in which he took so much interest, and among gentlemen from whom ha had always received such kind consideration. The Court then rose.
