TRADES ROWING CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Trades Bowing Club was held at the Foresters’ Hotel, Oxford terrace, last evening, Mr Freeman was in the oheir. The chairman congratulated those present on the results of the past season, referring to the new shed that would be erected on the land recently acquired. He trusted that no difficulty would be experienced in meeting the engagements of the club, although much rested with the members. He would ask the secretary to read the annual report and balance-sheet. In presenting their first annual report and bal nce-sheet, the committee have to congratulate the members on the rapid strides made by the club since it was started in September, 1881, and to draw their attention to the fact that, although they have had many great difficulties to contend with, the club has still a balance in hand of X 5 7a sd, this state of affairs being greatly accelerated by the almost unanimous way in which the members came forward in answer to the levies, for which the committee beg to return their sincere thanks. The club njw has forty-five active, and fifteen honorary members on the roll. During the year the section of land adjoining the Union Bowing Club’s has been obtained on very advantageous terms, which has been securely fenced, and the erection of the club’s now shed will be immediately proceeded with. This fact your members think highly satisfactory. The thanks of the club are due to Mr Lamb for gratuitously furnishing plans and specifications for the shed. The only club races daring the season were the oommittee doable scull and pair-oar races, the strong competition in the above showing what great interest the members took in the club’s affairs. The club’s property consists of one practice outrigged pair-oar, one practice donble sculls, one racing outrigged donble sculls, one single scull, one skiff, one whiff, one large pleasure boat. All the above are in good order. Mr W. H. Wynn Williams, M.H.3., has been written to, and has consented to become patron to the club. Tour committee advise that, owing ' to the very heavy expenditure which a new club has to contend with, the subscriptions for the coming season be raised to XI 10s, the entrance fee remaining as before, in all X2, which will compare very favorably with other rowing clubs. The enly regatta at which the club was represented was Akatoa, in which second oriza for the canoe race was obtained. On retiring, your committee cannot help recording their hearty thanks for assistance rendered by certain members at any time whan it was required.
