UNION BOWING CLUB.
The annual general meeting of this club was held last night at Warner's Hotel. Mr 8. Xesteven ocoupied the ohair. The Secretary (Mr Allard) read the report as follows:
In submitting the annual report, with the treasurer's statement of receipts and expenditure to 31st August, 1232, your committee have pleasure in Baying that since the commencement of the season 1881-82 the club shed has been removed to a site a little to the north west of the old one, and is now a permanent fixture, being placed on a site which in a year or two will become the absolute property of the club. The extent of the Bection is about an eighth of an acre. The number of members on the roll at present is 110, of whom seventeen were admitted daring the season. This does not compare favorably with the previous year, owing to the general want of interest displayed by all the members; bat we are in a position to state that the coming season will show a decided improvement. During the year the club has disposed of three of its fleet, viz., the Kelpie, £10; Sabrina, JB20; and Sylph, £lO, in order to make room for three new boats—a racing four and pair, from Messrs Swaddle and Winship, with the latest improvements, and a sister boat to the Thetis, from John Falter. The former were shipped in the Waimate and the latter in the Wairoa. On the arrival of these boats the club will be in possession of a firstclass fleet. The oars and sculls ordered in the previous season came to hand in Novo nber last in good condition. The financial condition of the club is very satisfactory, as can be seen by the annexed statement of assets and liabilities, especially when it is considered that an extraordinary outlay has occurred in removing the club's property. The club is greatly indebted to Mr George Gould for the liberal manner in which he has always treatad the club, and this season particularly so, as, in addition to not asking for payment of his account, he has kindly let us order through him the new boats before mentioned, which will increase his account against us by £l2O. Had it not been for his generous action no boats could have been obtained for the coming season. The thanks of the club are due to the following gentlemen who gave prizea : Mr H. Thomson, M.H.8., commodore; Mr G. T. White and Mr M. Sandstein. The following races were rowed during the season, and the names of the winning crews are given : —Biver races. Mr E. D. Eeeß, the custodian, has looked after the club's property in a satisfactory manner. The rules and by-laws ef the club haws bean revised, copies of which are. aid before you.
