SYDNEY, September 9. Saint Mary's Cathedral was opened for publio worship yesterday. Ten Bishops took part in the ceremony, including the Bishop of Wellington, who preached on the occasion. The services will lest three days. The choir numbered 300 voices.

The iron-workers of Sydnsy threaten to strike. The men demand twopenoo per hour extra. The masters offered a' penny. The men offered to compromise by aocepting three halfpence. The masters refused. Hence a strike is imminent, and will involve ultimately 800 men.

Sir Arthur Gordon wai released from quarantine on Thursday, and leaves for England next mail.
