MELBOURNE, September 12
Sailed, this afternoon, the Union Company’s steamship Ringarooma, for the Bluff.
In the Legislative Assembly this evening Mr Patterson, in referring to the proposed Irish immigration to the colonies, gave notice that he would bring a motion before the House to the effect that it was not desirable to encourage the introduction of such a class of immigrants. SYDNEY, September 12.
The health of Sir Henry Parkes has not improved, and his medical attendants will not allow him to be moved in his present condition. The brilliancy of the comet has considerably increased, and it is now distinctly visible shortly before dawn. The strike among tho men in the iron trade is extending. Employers uniformly decline to accede to the demands of the men for an increased rate of wages.
