THE SYDNEY FOOTBALL TEAM.

AUCKLAND, September 6. The Sydney football team is a very light one, averaging under 12st. Though not the best that could have been picked, owing to some of the best men not being able to spare the time necessary for a tour, yet they are nevertheless a good all round combination, and the members themselves are satisfied that it will take some hard play to enable their opponents to score a victory. There are only six men in the present team who took part in the match against Queensland. The following are particulars concerning each of the members;—

G. 6. Addison, University—Forward; good dribbler.

J. O. Barry plays back for the University team, and also plays a good forward game. H. M. Bay lea. University—Will play back for the team ; is a good long drop kiok ; runs and tackles well.

W. W. Flynn, University—Quarter back for the team ; strong runner ; uses his hands well, and is good place kiok. H. B. Fligg, Wallerloo—Quarter-back and half back ; runs and dodges vrolUand kicks fairly. Q. Wt Graham, Wallerloo—Plays anywhere, and is a good man all round. O. B. Hankins, Balmain—Good forward and fast runner ; tackles well; he is one of the fastest men in the team.

B. B, Hill, Bt, Leonards —Good forward j dribbles well.

M, H. Howard, Balmain—Play* anywhere, but generally half or quarter-back J good dodger and tackles well. O. Jennings, Glenhead—Good hard working forward. W. J. G. Mann, University— Good quarterback and first-rate tackier.

A. H. MoLatohie, Barwood—Good heavy forward and plays on the ball well. E. Roper, captain of the University team, also captain of this team—Strong heavy forward i uses bis hands remarkably well, and is well up in all points of the game. He also dribbles well.

Q. S. Richmond, Wallaroo—Very good forward and difficult man to tackle when under weight.

B. W. fhallon, Balmain—Plays anywhere ; tackles and kicks well.

G. W. Walker, Bedfepn—The drop kick of the team. Is a sensational drop kicker, and runs well; is a difficult men to taekle, and a'so winds np his run with a long drop. The Sydney football team had a little practice at Bussell during the stay of the Botomabsna. Owing to dissatisfaction oyer the selection of Jewett, of Dunedin, to play in the Auckland team, ho is to be withdrawn, and Carter substituted.
