Barlow’s shooting affair is now exposed by the Chiefs Wahanni and Te Whitiora. Potupatn, Barlow's companion, confessed that he and Tu Tawhaio, son of King Tawhaio, were bribed by Barlow. Tu Tawhaio reoeiy.d a watch, a ring and £5, and Fo npatn received £4. Wahahni and To Whitiora deserve great credit for the exposure.
Mr Walters, the race-horse owner, is some what better.
A boy at Onehunga poured molten lead in a bottle of water, when the bottle exploded, scattering the molten lead over his face, which it is feared will cause total blindness.
DDNEDIN, September 4,
O’Connor’s supporters are dissatisfied with the result of Saturday’s race, and are anxious that this match should be run again. A match will probably be made to-night, to be run off in about a fortnight’s time. A good deal of money changed bands, Mr McGregor, civil engineer, was thrown from his horse in Dowling street, yesterday afternoon, through the animal being frightened by a tram engine. His shoulder was dislocated.
