The use of heavy troops in Egypt is gi uerally condemned as being nnsuited lo the worl requiring to be performed. Considerable anxiety is felt about the aafoty of Alexandria, as it is almost deserted of troops. LONDON, September Ist, 5.45 a.m. A. force of marines have replaced the HigMand Brigade as garrison to Alexandra, Sis Garnet Wolseley has demanded from tie War Office a eupply of balloons lor observation purposes.
Complaints are being made in Alexandria at the withdrawal of troops, leaving the town almost defenceless.
I It is repotted that Sir Erely Wood's brigade is also about to leave. Arabi is selling all the European property he can get hold of. Bombay has decided to quarantine all arrivals from Saez.
