He analysed a small pot containing mercury ointment, probably white precipitate, also two samples of flaur and a portion of a bullock’s heart, a bottle containing liquor, and some salt. Witness failed to find anything poisonous in either of these. The gallipot containing the white precipitate looked as though it had not been touched for a long time. Witness tested for all the vegetable poisons, also the alkaline, but found no traoe. From the statement of the symptoms witness was quite surprised at not finding any traces of poison. It might be possible that the child vomited the poison out of the stomach, leaving only that portion which was absorbed into the system. Dr. Irving, In reply to Sergeant Mason, •aid that he could not account lor the death of the ohild otherwise than by irritant poison.
