Since the attack upon Ramses, and the occupation of that position by the British troops, no further military movement has been made by Sir Garnet Wolseley. Intelligence is to hand that a large force of the enemy is still at Kafradowar, where the work of entrenching is being
further vigorously proceeded with. News has also been received from Port Said that the Arabs at Ghenileh have been largely reinforced, and it is expected that they intend to make an attack on the port. Several more officers of Arabi’s army have deserted, and the enemy’s ranks are daily becoming weaker. Later. All is quiet in front of Sir Garnet 'Wolseley s position at Ramses, and nothing has been seen of the enemy since the recent engagement. British cavalry on Saturday occupied Kasaasaoin, a lock on the eweet water between Cairo and Ismailia. [" ABGTJS ” SPECIAL.] LONDON, August 26, 1.46 p.m. The Egyptian troops are quite demoralized, and are unlikely to make any stand before Zakazik. The Forte now desires only to summon Arab! to submit to the Khedive. A third army division is now mobilising at Aldershot. Russia has asked the British Government for an assurance that they will submit the final eolation and settlement of the Egyptian question to the Powers of Europe. A force of Arabs attacked one of the despatch boats in the Canal near Serapenm, but were driven off. [“ AGE ” SPECIAL.] LONDON, August 27, 10 a.m. Sir Garnet Wolseley has applied at Home for reinforcements. He is nearing Memallet-El-Kebir, and a general engagement is imminent.
Arahi is starting an armed train from Kafradowar.
