HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday at 4 pm. Jt’resent —His Worship the Mayor of Christchurch (in the chair), the Mayor of Sydenham, Drs. Pries and Turnbull. The Hospital committee reported that during the fortnight ending August 20th, twenty patients were admitted into the Hospital and twenty-five discharged, leaving fifty-six in the institution. During the same period there were six deaths. The number of patients in the Hospital for the corresponding period of last year was seventy-one. The return from Akaroa Hospital stated that there were three patients in that institution. The Secretary stated that there were no patients in the casual ward at Lyttelton. It was deoiled that the master of the Orphsnege be asked to furnish the secretary with certain returns of stores, Ac., and any other information that may bo deemed necessary. The secretary reported that the alterations and addition® to the Ashburton Home were being rapidly proceeded with, and that the inmate who had caused a disturbance, as reported at last meeting, had left the Home and district. The Board decided to refer the matter to Mr Hull, of the Public Works Deportment, for his approval, which if grsnted, the work should be put in hand. After disposing of some charitable aid business, the Board adjourned.
