Consols are unchanged, at 99£. The market rate o£ discount has been raised from 3i to 3j per cent., and is now £ below Bank rate. There is a fair demand for Australian hides, at fall prices. There are no quotable changes in New Zealand securities. Colonial breadstuff, or tallow.
August 18.
In tho House of Commons, last night, an excited debate took place regarding the sentence passed upon Mr E. D, Gray, M.P. for Carlow, for publishing in tho “Freeman’s Journal” an article reflecting on the Judges and jurymen engaged in the trial of an agrarian mnrder. The disenssion lasted some hoars, and was of a stormy character, but finally lapsed without any result.

A powerful party in Ireland are organising an extensive fund for the purpose of assisting the tenants against tho landlords. It has been put in the form of a company, and MrParnall, M.P., is the chief director.
