DESTRUCTION OF A CHURCH BY FIRE.

SUSPECTED INCENDIARISM. [FSB3S ASSOOIATIOK THLHQBAM.J NEW PLYMOUTH, August 19. St. Andrew’s Church, belonging to the Preabyteriaa body, and respecting the possession of which a dispute has lately arisen between the late pastor and his congregation, was burnt down this morning shortly after one o’clock. The building was_ insured in the Victoria Company for £4OO, in tho name of the Eev. Mr Breach, but the trustees of the church have lodged a protest against the money being paid to the insurer, as he has no legal interest in the building. It appears that the dispute has in no way been settled, and the committee had put fresh looks on the church, as the Rev. Mr Breach has been heard to state that he would preach in the building on Sunday, and a clergyman from Auckland arrived to take hia in the pulpit. It is expected that an inquiry will be made, as incendiarism is suspected.
