[kbutee’s TELEGRAMS.] LONDON, August 14.
In the cricket match at Derby, the Australians at the close of the day’s play had scored 11 runs for the loss of one wicket. There was a large attendance on the ground, but the weather was showery and wicket not in good order, la Derbyshire’s innings the fielding of the Australians was weak. Spofforth bowled well, taking five wickets for 78 runs.
The English harvest operations are progressing favorably and rapidly, and a good yield is expected. It is probable that the date for the cricket match England v Australia (now fixed for 28th, 29th, and 30th August) will be altered, but no definite decision has yet been coma to. Consols have declined to 99-J. The market rate of discount has been farther raised £ to 21, and is now only i below Bank rate. New Zealand securities and colonial breadstnffs are unchanged.

A quantity of gunpowder secreted in the basement of a school at Grodno, a Russian town on the railway line from St. Petersburg to Oracow, exploded accidentally. The school was full at the time.
A large force of troops and detectives are massing at Moscow, in anticipation of the Caar’s coronation.
