OKA FBBBS ASSOCIATION-. J AUCKLAND, August 13. The funeral of Lord Abbot Alcook took plaoe to-day. The body had been on the previous night laid in state in St. Benedict Ohurch, and dirges sung. Father Downey preached tho fnneral discourse, and the Very Bov. Father Fyne colebrated the solemn Requiem mass. The ohurch committee bore the body to the grave. There were 3000 present. The body will be placed in a vault temporarily, peuding the s tting apart of an enclosure for the burial of members of the Benedictine older.

WELLINGTON, August 13. The stables belonging to Mr Levin, M.H.R., were destroyed by fire at 2 30 thia morning. The horses ond some harness were saved. The fire is supposed to have originated through a defective fireplace The steamer Tui, which left Kaikoura for Lyttelton on Thursday afternoon, has broken down, and was sighted by the steamer Penguin about fifty miles from the latter port. Tho Tui was then under canvas. It is understood that her shaft has broken. The Penguin supplied the steamer with provisions. The agents in Wellington have telegraphed to Lyttelton for a steamer to go to her assistance.
