It is now definitely known that both Houses of the Imperial Parliament will adjourn on Friday next until some date towards the end of October, when the Houses will meet again. The only business to be dealt with will be the Government proposals for the reform of Parliamentary procedure, the discuEsion of which was suspended in June last. A portion of the cargo of the Orient Company's steamer Lusitania, consisting of several carcases of beef, was sold at Smithfield market to-day. The meat was in excellent condition. Hind quarters realised from 6£d to 6id per lb, and fore quarters sid to 5Jd per lb.
August 12. News has been received here that the agitation against the Christians is spreading through Syria, and also in Morocco, and it is feared that fanatical outbreaks among the Mahommedans may occur.
