OHBISTOHUBOH. Monday, At/oust 14. [Before J. Ollivier, Esq., 8.M., and B, Wostenra, Esq., J.P.J

Dbttnkennbss. The following persons were fined for this offence :—Mary Ann White, £1; John Kennedy, 5s ; Clara Dodsworth, 10j ; Mary Ann Nugent, ss; John Edwards, 5s ; Eliz. Olliver, who had made use of obscene language, 153. Three men, for first offences, 5s each, all with the usual alternatives. Jno. Gammel, for boing drunk and disorderly at the Railway Station, and for assaulting Constable Kelly, was fined £5, or in default one month's imprisonment, with hard labor.

MiscbliLAJteous. —Geo. Kelly, for allowing bia chimney to take fire, was fined ss.—Oases against Wm. Attwooi and J»mes Gilbert, for driving on the footpath in the Ferry road, were dismissed on the ground that the roadway at that spot is unsafe for traffic, and the parties were justified in leaving it.—Jos. Farrel was oharged with keeping his vehicle on the near side of the Papanui road when meeting another vehicle. Mr Stringer, for defendant, pointed out that his client was charged with doing the very thing the law say* he should do. The case was dismissed. —Geo. Waters and James Smith, two lads, were charged with fighting in a thoroughfare at Woolston. There was not sufficient evidence brought forward to convict, and the information was dismissed.—The canes of Geo. Wadsworth and John Gilbert, in arrears with their contributions towards the maintenance of their children at Burnham, were adjourned till August 28th.—A oase agvnst Joanna Bates, for using abusive and threatening language to Michael Barret, was dismissed. —Margaretta Gedsen and Emma Evans were ordered to pay np in a fortnight arrears in their contributions to the support of their mother, or their husbands to be sent to gaol for one week.
