[ renter’s telegrams.] LONDON, July 27,

In the House of Lords to-day the Arrears of Rent in Ireland Bill again came up for consideration, and after further debate was read a second time. The Union Bank of Australia has declared a dividend of 8 per cent, for the past half year, and carries £l4 000 to the reserve fund. The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day at Edinburgh, against eleven gentlemen of Scotland. The weather was showery, and the wicket was consequently not in good order. The Australians went in first and put together a total of 159. The highest scorers were Murdoch 58 caught, M‘Donnell caught 17. At the close of the day’s play the gentlemen had scored 43 for the loss of six wickets.

Arrived at New York, —Ship Thames, from Auckland (April 20th). Consols have advanced by -J, and are again at 99f. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £12,400,000, being £350,000 loss than last week.

New Zealand securities unchanged. Colonial breadstntla continue quiet, and Australian tallow continues firm at last quotations. The next series of wool auctions open onatho 2nd August. The arrivals to date amount to 320,000 hales. The fourth series will commence on the 21st of November. The Bank rate of disoonnt remains at 3 per cent.

July 28. The cricket match between the Australians and Eleven Gentlemen of Scotland was resumed at Edinburgh to-day. The weather was very fine. The gentlemen, having lost six wickets for 43 runs at the close of yesterday’s play, continued their first innings. The remaining four wickets fell for 24 runs, making a total of 67, being 92 behind the Australians. The Home team then followed on their second innings, which closed for a total of 74. The Australian bowling was dead on the wickets. Palmer in the first innings taking six wickets for 27 runs, and in the second four for 39 runs. Boyle in the second innings also took six wickets for 14 runs. The Australians won the match in one innings, with 18 runs to spare. Consols have advanced i, and are now at par. New Zealand securities remain at yesterday’s quotations. The markets for colonial produce are unchanged. The total quantity of wheat afloat far Great Britain is 2,020,000 quarters, being 40,000 above the amount last week. The homeward mails via Han Francisco, dated Auckland, June 20th, were delivered yesterday.
