Mr Bayfield, manager of Johnston's United Company, Ooltingwood, has received a report from Messrs Johnston, Matthey and Co., assayers to the Bank of England and the London Mint, giving an analysis of the samples of galena, blend and pyrites from the]mine at Oollingwood. The galena gives 62 per cent, lead, with 14ozi of s lver per tou of ore. The blend gives 58 per cent, of zino, with a small percentage of silver. The pyrites gives the highly payable yield of 4oz* of gold, lS&ozs of silver, and 3ozs of copper per ton of ore, which is worth, in London, from £ls to £lB per ton. A vein of pyrites from two to three feet thick exists on the company's property, and a tunnel of 400 feet to oat the gold-bearing reef, which is supposed to be the same as in the Hope olaim, is nearly finished. This tunnel is to be driven 500 feet in all. PALMEBSTON NORTH, July 29. The temporary bridge over the Bangitikei River was washed away last night, though the traffic was to have been resumed on Monday.
