The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Thursday, July 20th, were as follows : Spirits, J 689 4s 9d; tobacco, £7 3s 6d; cigars. £25 5s 2d; wine, £ll 8a ; bser, £7 Us 6d; sugar, £59 Oa Id ; tea, £45 18s 4d ; goods by weight, JUS 8s 9d; ad valorem, £47 12s ; other duties, £IOO 0s Id. Total, £712 8a 2d. At the usual sitting of the Waste Lands Board, he’d at Christ shuroh on Thursday, July 20th, sales were made as follows : —Ordinary: Selwya, 2a Or 7p; Akaroa, 48a Ir 3Sp; Ashburton, 156 a 1 r 39p; Geraldine, 103 a 2f 17p ; Waimate, 7a Or 9p. Deferred payments, village Battlements : Country village, 18 ’a. Total acreage sold. 804 a 3r Op. Total cash received, £2199 18a Gd. Refunds on account of former purchases were made in the amount of £ .235. CORN EXCHANGE. Report for the week ending Friday evening, the 21st mat: Business in the grain trade continues exceedingly quiet, with valnea for the most part unchanged. Bayers appear unwilling to increase stocks at the prices ruling, at the same time unwilling to part with their goods excepting at remunerative prices ; a feeling seems to prevail that the high rates ruling will experience a relapse. Wheat—Good milling quality, 4s lOd to 5a per bushel, f.o.b ; second quality, 4s 3d to 4s fid per bushel; chick wheat, 3a 3d to 4s; seed wheat, 5s 3d to 5s 6d per bushel. Oats—A slightly increased demand is visible for feed samples; values, however, are unchanged at 3s Id to 3s 3d per bushel; milling samples, 3a 2d to 3s 3d per bushelBarley—Prime malting samples are in good demand, and saleable at from 4s 6d to 4a 7d per bushel; second quality malting is almost entirely neglected, prices nominal; feed quality, Ss 3d to 3a fid per bushel. Grass Seed—A good deal of business has been transacted daring the past week ; thoroughly clean samples are worth from 5s toss fid per bushel, indifferently well dressed according to sample; cocksfoot, 5Jd per lb. Potatoes—Little or no business has been transacted daring the week; quotations are nominally 35s to 37a fid per ton at country stations, sacks extra. Cheese and Butter—7id per lb for the former, the latter la Id.
