CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, Judy 10. [Before J. Ollivier, E.M., and S. Westenra, J.P.] Dhunebnness. —John Durham, who had been arrested on Saturday for being drunk, and who it was stated was under the prohibitory clause at Lyttelton, was fined £l, or in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment with hard labor. Michael O’Day, who, while drunk on Saturday in Colombo street, had amused himself by bonneting passers by, a young lady amongst the number, was treated under a danse of the Licensing Act as being of drunken and riotous behaviour. He was fined £3, or in default one month's imprisonment with hard labor. Prank Williamson, a Pinlander, for being drunk and smashing a pane of glass belonging to Mrs Franklin, was fined Ss and ordered to pay 16s for the damage. James Reed, found asleep in a blacksmith’s shop, was discharged with a caution. George Gleason, who had broken a pane of glass at the Garrick Hotel, was fined ss, and ordered to pay 10s for the damage. For a first offence a man was fined ss. Miscellaneous. —Thirteen publicans were fined each 3s, with 2s costs, for not haring kept lights burning outside their licensed premises on some specified nights during ast week.—Six persons were fined in sums varying from 5s to 10s for aT .ring cattle or horses to wander.—Walter Walls, Thomas Fowler, and William O’Connor, carriers, for leaving their proper etas Is to ply for hire,were each fined s.*.—Wm.O’Connor, for feeding his horse in the street otherwise than out c£ a nosebag, was fined ss.—A. W. Walker, for loitering with his cab, was fined ss.—Thomas Jardine, for leaving a houa and vehicle without attendance, was fined 10a,— Charles Post, Henry Juris alias Toney, and George Honan alias Cockney, boys under fourteen years of age, charged with throwing stones in Cathedral square, were cautioned and discharged.— Q. P. Mathews, for travelling on the railway from Christchurch to Hillsborough without a ticket, was fined 2s 63, and ordered to pay the fare, Is 6d.—John Wyatt and P. Hill, fer neglecting to keep a proper closet pan, were fined lOj each.—Several oases of nuisances by defective drainage were adjourned.—T. Gee, for obstructing a path with building material, was fined 10a.
