The Guion steamer Alaska, *' the greyhound of the Atlantic,” left New Tork at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25th, and arrived at Queenstown on May 2nd, making the passage in seven days fifty-three minutes. Her outward passage occupied seven days four hours forty-two minutes, making the round voyage of ont and homo in fourteen days fire hours and twenty-five minutes. Ho afloat has done the same. the s.s. bowen. Messrs Cnff and Graham yesterday, received advice of the arrival of the above steamer at Wellington, direct from Foo Chow. She was placed in quarantine on arrival, bat it was expected would be released last evening. ihe Bowen did not call at Aucklaad, nut will tranship the Auckland part of her tea cargo at Wellington, land the Wellington portion, and then come on to Lyttelton. She has about 200 tons of new season’s teas for this port. From hero she wi l go to Port Chalmers, and after landing the balance of her cargo there, will, it is stated, leave for Foo Chow direct.
