LONDON, June 22.

The cargo of frozen meat, consisting of 4100 carcases of mutton, shipped from Australia by the steamship Sorrento, has been sold hero to arrive. The price has, however, been withheld.

In the House of Commons to-day, Sir Charles Dilke, Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in reply to a question, stated that the British Government did not recognise the new Ministry which recently had been formed in Egypt. Consols remain at 99£, ex div. Now Zealand securities are unchanged, at the following quotations :—Five per Cent. 10-40 Loan, 106 j; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 106; Pour-and-a-half par Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 103. The total reserve in notes and bullion >n the Bank of England is £14,500,000, being an increase of £1,000,000 as compared with the reserve last Thursday. offered. The tone of the sale was quiet. Since the opening of the series 19,500 bales have been withdrawn. June 23. No fresh news of importance is to hand from Egypt. Matters now are quieter, and the groat excitement which has been manifest of late in that country is gradually subsiding. In the House of Commons last night, Mr A. E. Ashley, Under-Secretary for the Colonies, stated, in reply to a question, that the Government had sent a communication to the Governor of Queensland urging that measures should be taken by the Colonial Legislature for the better protection of the Native and South Sea laborers employed in Queensland. CONSTANTINOPLE, June 22. The conference of European Ambassadors met here to-day as arranged, but adjourned without transacting any business, as the Austrian and German representatives had not received directions from their Governments as to their policy. It has transpired that the Saltan has telegraphed to the Khedive, approving of the appointment of Arabi Pasha as Minister of War in the new Egyptian Ministry.
