FLOODS IN OTAGO.
[PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEOBAM.] BALOLUIHA, June 21.
The river is in high flood, and in many places is overflowing its banks. The lower reserve and the adjaoent flats are almost wholly covered. The old post-offioe, now the Borough Chambers, is surrounded with water, which is running along the street now, but there is no water in the houses yet. The river is still rising slowly, and the temporary railway embankment reserve has given way in several places. But for the protective works a large portion of the town would have been flooded. So damage and no danger are anticipated. The height of the river has been ab.'i.t ttati jnary sicca two o'olcek, and it is expeoted that it will gradually subside. The township of Stirling is pretty much flooded. The water has run into some buildings, but there has been no damage done. Country advices state that twenty hours" constant rain occurred yesterday. Like Wakatipu is much fljoded, as well as the Olutha river.
