The man, named Irone, who fell from his horse while returning home from the North Franklin oleeticn, died in the Hospital tonight. A meeting was held in the Choral Hall (Bishop Oowio presided) under the auspices of the Churoh Missionary Society. DUNEDIN, June 21. Some agitation is briag made to secure excursion fares oh the railway to Christohurch during the visit of members of the Assembly. The dismissal of Mr Farnie, by the Education Board, is occasioning a good deal of public discussion, and the action of the Board, is very genarally condemned. The money has been staked for a wrestling; match between Slade, of Timaru, and Professor Miller, of Mace and Miller. The amount is £SO, and the match will take plaoe on Saturday night at the Princes* Theatre.
Messrs Murray, Boberts and Oe. have received cable advices of the sale of 349 carcase* of mutton forwarded by them per ship Dunedin. After paying freight at twopenos farthing per lb and all charges, the net return was equal to tiro and four-fifths pence per lb. Beckoning the skins, offal, &c , and paying all expenses, the firm receive twenty-two shillings and twopenoe per head for sheep, which. at the time of their shipment were selling at Burnside yards at 13s per head.
A total of £l7B was oollected in Donedin 'or the Shetland relief fund.
The young man Sclater, who accidentally shot, himielf last week at Fortroae, only arrived in the colony by the Manapouri. He was of splendid physique, standing 6 feet 5 inches in height, and was a oapital cricketer, footballer, &3. He was a native o£ Bussex, England.

Ai Mr Derritt, purser of the steamer Grafton, was standing talking near the wharf, three trucks ran off the line used by the contractors for the mole, and one of them atrnck the unfortunate young man, and precipitated him over an embankment on to the rocks below, a distanoe of about 20 feet. Hit skul 1 is badly fractured, with the brains protruding. He was at onoe taken to the hoipi'.al, but is not expected to recover. An inquest touching the death of Neil McPhee, who was killed by the K&rtigi railway accident, is being hell. A number of witnesses have been examined, and the evidence is still being taken. The inquest will probably not conclude till late to-night. INVEBCABGILL, June 2L Heavy rain has been falling off end on during the past few days, and traffic on soma of the railway lines is interrupted.
