THE KARTIGI INQUEST.

The inquest touching the death of Neil MoPhee commenced at ten o'clock yesterday morning, and lasted until midnight, when the following verdict wag returned by the jury : " That the deoeased, Neil McPheo, died from pyaemia, caused by injuries receivod in an accident on the railway line at Tinal Creek bridge, which accident was oaustd by a horßO getting on the line and upsetting the engine." The chief faots elicited were that the fence of the lino was good, and that no complaints had been previously made of cattle straying on this particular portion j that the owner of the horse whioh occasioned the accident could not give any idea how it got on the line, nor account for tho rope on its neck ; that the driver and guard, with a shepherd who wao in oharge of the sheep with whioh the train was loaded, used every eff jrt to get MoPhee out from under the engine ; that it was impossible to do bo with the faw tools carried by the train, even if they oould have been found, as his legs were jammed botween the osb of the engine and the boiler or firo-box. It .vaa shown that McPhce hud been on duty, with but a short intormijsion, from eleven o'clock on Sunday rijht, and the driver from noon on Monday, up to the time of tho accident about midnight on Tuesday.
