FOOTBALL.
EAST CHRIS TOHUROH FOOTBALL CLUB. Saturday turned out quite a summer's day ; in fact, too warm for football, bat, however, there was a very fair meeting, considering it was English mail day. Some twenty-three put in on appearance. The match was, as arranged, Ato L and M. to Z. Four spells of twenty minutes wore played. Some good all-round play was shown on both sides, and as the game was very evenly contested throughout, it would hardly be fair to mention the name of one player moro than another. Fuller, Da Castro, Atack, Kesteven showed up well for the Yellows ; and for the B>.ics, Wright, Parsons, Woledge, Shand worked well for their side, and G. H. Godwin (late of Wanganui), who has joined the club lately. On Saturday the E.0.F.0. play Ashburton Football Olub at Ashburton, and, as usual, go up country. The best cannot get away, and as the committee intend only to piok from who can go for certain it is to be hoped the fifteen will turn up to a man, as Ashburton has a very good team this season.
