MELBOURNE, June 15. The comet was visible here shortly after sunset yesterday.
In the Legislative Assembly last night Mr Francis submitted a resolution setting forth that the proposed remission of taxation, as announced in the Treasurer's budget, was inconvenient and undesirable in the view of the improbability of ther« being any surplus at the end of the present financial year. Mr Francis declared that he did not intend that his resolution should be deemed a vote of confidence in tho Government. Sir Bryan O'Loghlen moved the adjournment of the debate, and the House rose.
