Westenra', J.P? j rEUHKKNKKBS.—John Parker was fined 10j, or in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Ellen Mitchell was fined £l, or in default forty eight hourß* imprisonment. For a first offence a man was fined sa, or in default twentj-four hours' imprisonment. Assaulting the Polios. —James Mason, William Yielding, alias Loamei, and Joseph Aitken were brought up on this charge. Mr Stringer appeared for accused. Constable Stanley deposed that being called about 10 o'clock am. on account of a row in a brothel in Now Btreet kept by Mrs Boyd, he was following the prisoners out, when he was knocked down by Yielding and kiokod by Mason ; Aitken did nothing. Ho fired his revolver in the air. Sergeant Hughes ran up, and the three were arrested. Aitken was discharged, and, being called as a witness, stated that he had nothing to do with the other prisoners. He had paid 10s for two bottles of beer in the house. The beer was produced from a cupboard. He knew nothing of the assault. Yielding, sworn, stated that he and Mason had three bottles of beer in the house, for which they paid 15a. Then, before they had time to drink it, Mrs Boyd ordered them out, and they went. The constable followed them out, and ordered them out of the strait. He did not seo any essault. Mason made a similar statement. Yielding and Mason were fined £3 each, or in default imprisonment with hard labor for eight days. The High stbbbt Bubglabibs.—Wiliinm Anderson, alias Prioe, and Edward Longmore, who has a number of nliaaes, were to have been brought up charged with being concerned in a number of burglaries in High street on the night of April 21st, but before they were called on, Longmore escaped from the prisoners' room at the back of the Courthouse. The oase was then adjourned till 3 p.m. _____^_____
