This is the first case of the kind, hence the nominal penalty. l'ho prisoner Kitto was marohed through the streets of the city to-day in manacles, and escorted by two gaol officers. He has been examined by the medical men in gaol, who pronounced him insane. Their report has been forwarded to the Colonial Secretary, who ordered Kitto's removal to the asylum, pending his trial.
