The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report on the produce markets tor the week ending Jnue Bth, as follows Wool—Pending the final sales of the season, to ho held on the 13th and 14th June, nothing is doing ia this staple. Our latest advices from London, under date 7th June, are highly satisfactory, as the following: telegram received to-day, testifies : •• The sales progress firmly. U p to date 144,000 bales have been sold. For superior clothing, washed, coarse greasy crossbred, and coarse washed crossbred, tho market is unchanged. Superior combing washed and fine washed crossbred have -Advanced osd to Id per lb. For superior greasy and fine gueasy crossbred the market is firmer. Medium and inferior greasy, market The prices realised show that good combing merino is selling at ll£d to Is 2}d, clothing lid to Is, halfbred lid to llsd, cross-bred 9d to IG-id. Sheepskins—An average supply was brought forward for Thursday’s sales. There was tho usual attendance of tho trade, bat from start to finish it was apparent that thejreceut moist weather had influenced values. Prices were down Gd to 9d Ipor skin, and on extra sized crossbreds there was a difference of fully Is on previous week’s values. Batchers* crossbreds made 5s 4d to 5s 9d for large skins, 4s 3d to 4s 9d for medium, and 3s to 3s 9d for small and badly shipped. Merinos ruled at from 3s 3d to ss. Country skins were quitted at 2s to Ss # 3s 3d to 4s, and 4s 3d tossßd. We submitted 1214 skins at the above values, besides some station "skins in bales, which realised GJd and 6*d per lb. Hides—For this line there is an improving demand. Wc placed 82 at an average of 4d jier lb. Tallow and Fat—The market continues steady at 2d to 2Jd for goed fat, down to l£d for inferior. Tallow is in demand, but boilers decline to quote, beinglfnlly engaged on current contracts. Wheat—Farmers* parcels are now rarely met With, tho bulk having been shipped away, or pa2sed imto the hands of merchants. At Stadholme Junction wo held an important sale on Monday on account of M. Stndholme, Esq., and other clients, when about 40,000 bushels of grain were disposed of. Prime milling wheat realised 4s seconds, 3s Id to 3s C£d; feed barley, 3s 6d ; and oats, 3s and 3s Id, delivery at Stndholme Junction. Some shipping parcels have changed hands during the week at 4s lid and ss, f.o.b. For feed Tuscan 5s 3d has been obtained. In our report of May 36th wo noted that Californian wheat, per steamer, was costing Cs 2d, c. f. &i. Wo must now supplement this by stating that the wheat on passage thither, per sailing vessel, can be laid down at 5s 4d, c. f.&i.,anl in support of this wo may mention that Now Zealand wheat is selling at 5s 3d to 5s 6d, on wharf at Sydney. . Oats —A slight movement has been noticeable in this grain. Sales have been effected at 3s 3d and 3a 34d, ex store, and as several shipping orders are in town it is not improbable that higher rates will he obtained very shortly. Bar.ey Several transactions have transpired during the week on the basis of 4s 9d for finest malting, and 3s 9d for good feed. Potatoes —Following upon the excitement of the past few weeks, and assisted by the late unfavorable weather, a sudden change has come over this market. Sales have been few and unimportant at adeclinc of 2s Cd per ton on last week’s rates. Dairy produce—There continues a good demand for both cheese and butter, the former readily realises 5d per To (for good make), and the latter Is 2d, delivered in store.
