PARISHIONERS' MEETING AT RICCARTON.

On Friday evening a meeting was held in the Schoolroom, the Kev. O. Bowen in the chair. About fifty persona were present. The Chairman road the minutes of an wdjourned parish meeting of 27th May. Mr Latter* had tjien proposed to give notice of motion as follows: — 11 That in view of the greatly increased population in the neighbor* hood of St. Barnabas necessitating very shortly the enlargement of the ohuroh, and this pariah having obtained from the Ohuroh Property Trust all me aid that can be granted to it as at present constituted, the incoming vestry be requested to confer with the vestry of Papanui parish, and to take such other stops as may be advisable towards forming a separate parish for the Fendalton district, and that this matter he presented to Synod at the nest session for consideration and decision.” This had been seconded pro forma, by Mr Fere day, who opposed it. After discussion the motion had been withdrawn, and it was moved by Mr E, 0. Latter —•* That the Incumbent bo requested to ask a special meeting of parishioners to consider the motion of which Mr Latter had given notice for the 9ih inst.”

Mr Latter then moved the motion quoted above, of which notice had been given on May 27th, and Mr Ellis seconded it. Mr Poreday moved the following amendment—" That, in the opinion of this meeting, a subdivision lof the parish is inadvisable etthe present time.” This was seconded by Mr Q-. Mayo. The amendment was put and was carried—--32 for and 17 against.

On Mr W. Cartwright’s motion, seconded by Mr J. 8. Williams, it was resolved—- “ That a three months’ adjournment of this meeting take place.” At (he Incumbent's suggestion a number of people then came forward to enrol their names, and the proceedings ended at tan o’clock with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
