CONSTANTINOPLE,, June 5. Frequent communications have been passing between foreign Ambassadors and the Porte on the subject of the proposal to hold a conference for the settlement of the Egyptian question. It has transpired that the Turkish Government, without absolutely recreating tho proposal, was strongly urged that the conferenca would bo useless in bringing about tho result desired. The majority of tho Powers have, it is understood, accepted the views of the Porte, and it is considered unlikely therefore that a conference will be held. ALEXANDRIA, June 6. In compliance with the demand of tho Sultan, communicated to him through the Khedive, Arabi Pasha has ordered the stoppage of works, which were proceeding, for the fortification of this city.
