OHRISTOHUROH. Saturday, June 3. [Before J. Ollivier, 8.M., J. P. Jameson and K. Weatenra, J.P.’a.] Drunkenness, Edwd. Neill, charged with being found drunk, denied the offence. Ho said he was suffering from rheumatics when the constable saw him slip down in the street; he hoped the Bench would let him off this time. The lock-up keeper said when brought in the prisoner was helplessly drunk. Ho was discharged with a caution. Ellen Davis was ordered to pay 2s cab-hire, and was discharged. Petty Larceny. —James Williamson was charged with stealing two solitaires, valued at ss, the property of E. Hooper. On the application of Mr Loughroy, the case was adjourned for a week. A Hotel Thief. —George Brennan, alias Barker, pleaded guilty to stealing a coat, value £2, the property of F. Hobson. Sergeant Mason said prisoner had stolen it from a peg in the passage of the White Hart, and produced evidonos showing that prisoner whs a practised thief. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with hard labor.
