RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

fPßßfla ABiooiAnoir teieseah.] DUNEDIN, May 24. A stock train going north with sheep early this morning was thrown off the line by the engine striking a horse near Shag Point Junction. The engine was just entering a bridge* when it went off and it smßihed the bridge considerably. Fifteen waggons filled with sheep ran off and many of the sheep were killed, and a number injured. The : engine turned right over. The driver was thrown, twenty yards shead of the engine, and eecaped unhurt. The fireman, however, landed amongst the debris, and it was two or three hours before he w«s-found. He was badly bruised and scalded. It has been etated in the evening papor that the engine driver and fireman were on duty for thirty-six hours previously, but this is incorreot, as they had joined the train at Paloierston, and were on duty less than an hour. The line was blooked for some hours.
