FOOTBALL.
The match played on Saturday on caster Park—England v Colonies—proved a failure, owing to a large number of players, especially on the English side, not turning up. The Colonies were altogether too strong for their opponents, and the ball was kept in the quarters of the latter throughout the game. Lane and W. Ootterill obtained two fries, rni B. Ootterill. Stringer, W. and It Million, Hyman, ani Mathias, one try apiece, but only one goal was kicked. For the English, Huguener, Hall, and Leech, played well back, and Hawkes, Spragge, end Arundel, forward. The Colonial backs all did their duty well, and the forwards played together and kept on the ball. Of them Lane particularly distinguished himself in the scrimmages, and Hyman was noticeable for his smartness in following up.
