[eeutee’s telegrams.] MELBOURNE, May 17, Arrived, this morning—P. and O. Company’s steamship Hydaspos, with inward Suez mail, which loft London oh 7th April. In the Legislative Assembly last night, Mr Berry’s amendment to the address in reply to the Governor’s speech, amounting to a vote of want of confidence in the Ministry, was rejected by 4-5• to 29. The address was then passed. A reduced tariff for telegraphic messages between Australia and New Zealand will take effect from Ist June next. SYDNEY, May 17.
The ship Cashmere, 1238 tons, while in charge of the pilot, swung upon a sandbank in Newcastle Harbor last evening, and it is expected she will be-came-a total wreck.
