FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

I_PHESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM J NAPIER, May 14, A Native man belonging to Te Aute vu killed yesterday afternoon on the railway line by falling between the carriages. Hawas proceeding from Waipawa to Te Ante, and when within half a mile of the latter place he was arranging his parcels on the carriage platform. Ha was in a stooping position, and there being a steep incline, the jerk must have sent him over the underneath bar that goes across the platform. One carriage and the van went over him, almost cutting him to pieces from below the abdomen. The guard felt the jark of the van in passing over the body, aud on reaching the station went back with the engine and e truck. On arriving at the body ho found round it a number of Maori women who had seen the accident. The body was conveyed into a pa. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
