CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, May 9. [Before K. Beetham, Esq., R.M.] Drunkenness. —Bridget Eerriok, for being drunk, was fined 10s, Albert Stacc, for being drunk while in charge of a horae and cart, was fined 10a, A man was fioed 5s ; all with the usual alternatives in default of payment. Shop xifiing. —James Finn pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of boots from the front of the shop of Nathan Moyer, Caehol street. Eight previous convictions for larceny had b;on recorded against him. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, with hard labor.
Eobbeby from the Peesoit. — John O’Connor mbs charged with otoaling from William Shea a watch and chain, a puree, and a bunch of Iceyn, together valued at £lO 14!; also. 20s in silver. The robbery took place in Gloucester street, on Saturday night last. The police not being ready to proceed with the case, the prisoner was remanded till Mey 18Lh.
LYTTELTON. Tuesday, May 9. [Before J. T. Rouse and J. W. Smith, P qs,, J.P.a] A Debeutbb. — R. Jobliu pleaded guilty to deserting from the chip G-iroloch. He wae found on board a coasting vessel, and had a bag of clothes with him, evidently intending to permanently leave his ship. The chief officer gave him a good character. The Bench ordered him to bo looked up until the departure of the ihip.
