[eeutee’s teleoeams.] MELBOURNE, April 29. On application of the plaintiff a new trial has been ordered in the libel action brought by H. R. Williams, Minister for Mines in the late Berry Administration, against the “ Argus,” in which the verdict was on the 15 th ult. returned for the defendants. The intercolonial eight-oar boat race between Victoria and New South Wales crows, was rowed to-day on the Yarra, and resulted in a victory for the Sydney men by three lengths. ADELAIDE, April 29. Wheat is quieter, at 6s per bushel; town flour is unchanged, at £l4 per ton ; country brands are quoted at £l3. The trial of Barker and Horton, on a charge of conspiring to defraud the Australian Mutual Provident Society, was concluded to-day. Both prisoners were found “ Guilty,” hut sentence was deferred.
