[EECTBE’S TELBGEA.MB.I LONDON, April 28. Evening. Both Hanlan and Trickett are in splendid condition for their race on the Ist proximo. Betting is four to one on Hanlan. The announcement that Earl Spencer has been appointed to succeed Earl Cowper as Viceroy of Ireland is fully confirmed. It has farther transpired that the noble Earl, although resigning the Lord Presidency of the Council, will continue as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland to remain a member of the Cabinet. A grand banquet given by Australian colonists and others to Sir Henry Parkes, took place at Willis’ rooms this evening. H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh presided, and a distinguished company was present. In the course of his speech on the occasion Sir Henry Parkes quoted freely from the statistics of the colonies with the object of showing that the Australian child was rapidly becoming equal to its parent. April 29. It is now definitely announced that Earl Cowper has resigned the Lord Lieutenancy of Ireland. No authoritative statement as to his suce**aor has yet been published, but it is understood that Earl Spencer (Lord President of the Council) will bo appointed to the vacancy.
