[eeutee’s telegbams.] LONDON, April 28. Consols have advanced -g- to 101|. N*w Zealand securities are unchanged. Colonial breadstuffs remain at 55s for Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, and 52s for New Zealand ditto. Adelaide flour continues at 375, ex store. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,340,000 quarters, or 5000 quarters less than last week. Australian tallow continues dull at 41s for best beef, and 42s for best mutton. Galvanised iron, 26-guage, has declined to £l7 10s. Best Sydney copra remains at £ls 10a. April 29. The Select Committee of the House of Lords appointed to inquire into the working of the Irish Land Act, has concluded its labors. la the course of the report which has been tabled, the committee recommend that the State should advance to tenants the purchase money of their holdings, in order that arrears of rent due prior to 1878 may be cancelled. A man named Young, described as a clerk; of Doncaster, Yorkshire, has been arrested on a charge of sending threatening letters to the Queen with the object of extorting money. A fire occurred to-day in Aberdeen, by which one large ship waa completely gntted, and the stock, valued at £40,000, was totally destroyed. No loss of life occurred. ST. PETERSBURG, April 29. It is officially announced that the Czar has decided that measures shall be adopted without delay for the protection of the Jews in Southern Russia against repetition of past outrages. AUSTRALIA.
