Hii certificate was suspended for three months. Pilot Woods was severely blamed for signalliog to take the bar too soon, and negligence, but the Court could not punish him. At a meeting of the Borough Council lact night, application was made on behalf of the town licensing committees for a donation of £lO from the licensing fees, to be expended in offering rewards for securing the conviction of publioans who supply driak to persons agaiust whom prohibitive orders are iasucd. Several Councillors opposed the application, on the ground that the mattor was one for the police, and that to grant the request would be to offer a premium to the lowest olass in the community—viz., informers. Ultimately the amount was grinted on the •asting vote of the Mayor.
