Sentenced to DeathThe Home Secretary has had under consideration further affidavits forwarded by President Arthur in support of the alleged insanity of Dr. Damson, the Wimbledon murderer. After a full enquiry Sir William "Vernon Harcourt has decided that appeals made on behalf of the prisoner cannot be entertained, and it has been definitely decided that sentence of death shall be carried out on Friday next, the 28th. The Royal Marriage. A large number of Royal and other distinguished personages have arrived at Windsor Cattle, as guests of Her Majesty, on the occasion of the marriage of Prince Leopold, the festivities in connection with which have commenced. Honor ConferredThe Order of the Garter was to-day conferred upon the King of Holland by the Queen at Windsor Castle. Brindisi Mail. The homeward Australian mails via Brindisi, which left Melbourne March 6th, was delivered in London to-day. DividendThe Orient Steamship Company have declared a dividend of 21 per cent, for the last half year, and carried £38,000 to the reserve fund.

Unfrozen MeatA further examination of meat brought from Melbourne by the Orient Steamship I Garonne has proved that a large portion is in a bad condition, owing to the carcases having been packed in an unfrozen state. April 27. The Garonne's cargo of mutton has realised an average of 4£d per lb. The portion which arrived in bad condition had apparently been frozen hastily before shipment at Melbourne. CAPETOWN, April 26. Appeal for CetewayoTelegrams are to hand from Pietermaritzburg, reporting the arrival there of one thousand Zulus, who have left their country to appeal to the Governor of Natal in favor of the return of Cetewayo to Zululand. VIENNA, April 26. Peace v War. Intelligence is to hand that hostilities between the Austrian troops and the Bosnian insurgents have now entirely ceased, and that an amnesty has been granted the latter by the Austrian commander.
