A Brilliant Talker.—And it was thus Mr Slagg got a reputation as a brilliant man. Said Ragbag, who had just published a poem : -‘I was introduced to Slagg to night. He’s one of tho most brilliant men I ever met. Wo wore talking about my poem. Had over an hour’s conversation. Oh, he’s a splendid conversationalist. The talk didn’t flag for an instant. I never enjoyed a chat more in my life,’ And said Gallagher, l Well, Ragbag, your idea of a good talker is about that of most people. Slagg can listen all night, but he’s dumb ; can't speak a word.’
