CHRIST'S COLLEGE CADETS.
This corps paraded in the quadrangle of Christ's College a little before three o'clock yesstorday afternoon, under the command of Captain Richards, for inspection of his Excellency Sir Arthur Gordon. The corps mustered forty-six on parade. Shortly after three o'clock Mb Excellency's carriage, containing fir Arthur and Lady Gordon, drove to the College entrance, where Lieutenant Colonel Packe, the Primate, Bevs. W. O. Harris and F. Hare, Messrs C. O. Corfe, H. E. Webb, and others were in waiting to receive him. His Exc( Honey having alightsd, the band, under the leadership of Mr H. E. Poore, played God Save the Queen. Sir Arthur walked along the ranks, narrowly scrutinising the cadets, who were drawn up two deep. The lads were then put through a variety of marasuvres, which they performed in a manner that would put to shame the drill of many old companies of volunteers, their Vbiyonet practice being excellent. Indeed the precision with which thoy obeyed the various orders given was the subject of general remark. The only weak pait of the parade
biirig that scarcely enough attention was paid to time and step in marching past. ' The cadets having been formed into square, his Excellenoy stepped forward and congratulated them on the mnnnsr in which they hai gone through their various evolutions, remarking that prompt attention to drill would aid in the formation of good business hubitain afterlife, and that a good lad well drilled oould not but develope into a good man, Captain Richards, Lieut. Maude, and SubLieut. Hall were then presented to his Exoellency by Lieut.-Colonel Packe. Sir Arthur and suite subsequently adjourned to MrC.C. Corfe's residence.
