[PEE PBBS3 ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, April 24. Inquest. At the inquest on the body of Thomas Raikes, fatally injured on the steamer Rotorua, a verdict of " Accidental death " was given. The passengers and orew of the Te Anau on Sunday colleoted £22 for the widow. Sudden Death. James Greenhall, oashier to P. and J. MoLeod, was found dead in his bed at Maketu. The inquest showed that death resulted from paralysis of the heart, hastened by the übo of narcotic medicines. Capture of an EscapeeJames Conway, arrested for horse stealing at Napier, but who escaped from Deteotive Doolan at Cambridge, was again captured at Piako after a ohase of 140 miles. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 24. Te Whiti. The Hinemoa arrived this afternoon, when Te Whiti and Tohu were put on board, and she left at 545 p.m. for the South. Te Whiti and Tohu were in good spirits. WELLINGTON, April 24. Mr Hall. Mr Hall will leave for his home in Canterbury by the steamer Rotorua to morrow. Marriage of a Sea Captain. Captain Cameron, of the Union 8.8. Singular MistakeA cablegram has been received from Pan Francisco that a registered letter containing £2OO in notes which had been posted at Picton for Wellington some months ago had turned uo there safely. The letter, it appears was put into the wrong bag. The Revenue. The revenue returns for the colony for the financial year are not yet definitely made up. WESTPORT, April 24. The Drink Again. The body of Hains Christian, watohmaker, Norwegian by birth, was found in the surf of the north beach yesterday afternoon. Deceased's mind had been affected by excessive drinking lately, but how he got into the water io unknown. He formerly worked in Christchurch and Dunedin DUNEDIN, April 24. Concession to Commercials. Over twenty of the £SO annual railway tickets have been applied for in Dunedin. The Eight Hours's Question. The Trades and Labor Council have called a publio meeting in favor of the eight hours, system for to-morrow night. Messrs Stout, Bathpate and Green will be amongst the speakers. The Weather. To-day the severest gale from west southwest experienced for many years occurred. There are no shipping casualties however to report. Towards noon it moderated, and rain came on.
