A serious mishap to Oobb's coaoh at the bottom of Patea hill took place to.day. The coach was going on steadily, when the leaders shied at a dray on the road, and the coaoh went over a slight embankment and capsized. It wag full at the time. Mr Hutchison, solicitor, of Wanganni, was severely injured, and a young lad sustained| a serious icalp wound, and isjuot expeoted to recover. A aumber of others were more or less injured. No blame is attached to the driver.

Maori Exhumation,

The body of a Maori has been exhumed, and a pvst mortem examination made by Dr. Smith, chiefly through the influence of Tauroa, a Patea chief. The inquest is now only delayed until the coach arrives with the coroner. An inspection of the Jplaoo where the body was found shows beyond the shadow of a doubt that no fracture of the skull could possibly have occurred from the fall. The road is soft and free from stones. The mare deoeased was riding was quiet, and not the least likely to have kicked him. Inspector James and Detective Jeffries wore present.

The fire at Rutherford's mill, Brightwat er, is said to have broken out in a large shed adjacent to the mill, which was erectod for flax dressing. From this the fire spread to the mill, where it is estimated there were between 2000 and 3000 bushels of wheat on the premises. Some of it has been saved. Mr Rutherford, whose loss is estimated at £2OOO over his insurance, is down purchasing for the winter supply.. The origin of the fire is unknown.
