[fboh thb oobbkspokdbnt of thh " PBESS.]

WELLINGTON, April 31. Mr Whitaker, after consultation with his late colleagues, waited on the Governor this afternoon, end submitted the names of a Ministry, whioh his Exoollency approved. The new Government accordingly were sworn in at 3 pm. The members are the same as the late Ministry, excepting only Mr Hall, of whose three offices Mr Whitaker takes the Premiership, Major Atkinson Customs, and Mr Johnston Publio Works. The other portfolios remain unchanged. You will remember that I told you the proof of my reiterated assertion that no dissension between Mr Bryoe and Mr Whitaker (such as was untruly alleged to have broken np the late Ministry) would bo found in the fact that Mr Bryce w.is willing to take office under Mr Whitaker, ar d that he would do so. The proof is row afforded. His Excellency left by the Hine> mou for Lyttelton immediately aftor swearing in the Ministry. It is said that he intends never again to return to Wellington, but that he will take a very early and final departure from the colony. A rumor has been circulated that Mr Whitaker only acts an Premier till the session, and that the question of future leadership will be then referred to his party. It is reported, however, that, on the contrary, Mr Whitaker takes the Premiership with all its responsibilities, and that he will reside in Wellington and aot in all respects as Prime Minister and leader nf the p&rty, M>rjor Atkinson leading in the House of Representatives.
